Press Releases

May 2007 -

16 years of people development…

What’s really changed and where’s it going?

Have your say

"… the only competitive advantage the company of the future will have is its managers´ ability to learn faster than their competitors."

Arie De Geus – Royal Dutch Shell

The sentiment of this quote has been endorsed time and time again by the UK government, employer organisations, trade unions, educational institutions and all the professional bodies advocating personal, team and organisational development.

If the UK economy needs to have the best quality workforce to out-compete the global competition, how well equipped are the developers of the current and future UK workforce?  What is the quality of their offering? Is there a gap between their current competence and the capability required to deliver future learning and development needs?

We want to answer these questions by getting as many managers and learning & development professionals to participate in this unique piece of research to determine the current position of developers’ development today and their future requirements within the UK.

In 1991 AMED (Association for Management Education and Development) and the Department of Education were involved in carrying out the ‘Developing the Developers’ survey. Now, 16 years on, we are updating and repeating the survey. To achieve this we need your support to help us gain access to the thoughts, feelings and needs of developers in a wide range of environments.

So if you manage, mentor, coach, train, teach, educate or develop people in any way, we want to know how you develop these skills and most importantly how you learn new ones. To complete the survey please visit www.developthedevelopers.co.uk and be entered into the draw to win prizes including performance coaching sessions and Keypoint Survey Software – paper, web & email module as well as the latest software for concept mapping, Cornerstone: Visual Thinking.

The survey will be going live on Monday 21 May 2007 and will be live for only 4 weeks.

If you are involved in a professional body or group and would like further details on how you could get involved with this project please contact Project Manager Mike Morrison on 0870 7669651.
